At Man To Man we acknowledge that every person is different, diverse and complex and that we all face different problems, feelings and emotions, so what helps one person may not help another.

Adopting the Integrative counselling approach, means we are skilled and trained in numerous therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and more! Integrative counselling enables us to adjust our methods to assist every client according to their individual requirements, preferences, and circumstances. This approach is highly adaptable and can address a wide array of issues.

Research shows that the most important aspect of any counselling to create a positive outcome is the relationship between client and counsellor. The therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor is of upmost importance for positive change to occur, so for us, the backbone of our counselling is based on the Person Centred method which requires three key attributes of a counsellor - Empathy, Congruence (Counsellor being genuine) and unconditional positive regard, which means showing complete support and acceptance of a person no matter what the person says or has done. From here the therapeutic relationship can build naturally between client and counsellor and a trust and bond is built. The counsellor then may decide to tailor the approach depending on the clients needs. We might find that a more direct solution focused approach might be beneficial and some CBT techniques might be useful, which can help us to notice how your thoughts are effecting how you feel and then behave. By identifying unhelpful thoughts and behaviour patterns you can go about working on ways of changing these and making them more positive. You may require ways and techniques to manage anxiety or stress, mindfulness or breathing techniques. Our aim is to help you understand yourself and why you think and feel the way you do.

Counselling presents you with an opportunity to delve into your thoughts without fear of judgment. We can support you in navigating challenging thoughts and emotions, as well as considering alternative ways of managing them. We can help you explore aspects you wish to alter while also identifying ways to embrace those you cannot change. Our goal is to help clients develop self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a deeper understanding of themselves. Once our clients gain insight into their own feelings and experiences, they can find their own solutions to life's challenges and facilitate personal growth.
